Lagos Treaty of 1975

The ECOWAS Treaty of Lagos, signed on May 28, 1975, in Nigeria established the Economic Community of West African States to promote regional economic cooperation, integration and development. It aimed to create an economic and monetary union by fostering trade, stability, and free movement of people.
